LG Uplus said on April 5 it had completed sending about 10.68 million customer guidance text messages by last Friday, equal to 64.1 percent of the total recipients, ahead of a SIM update and free replacement for all customers starting on April 13.
LG Uplus has been sending guidance messages in stages since March 30 about the SIM update and free replacement. It plans to send additional guidance on April 6 and 7 to a total of 5.98 million people, including 4.8 million MNO users and 1.18 million MVNO users.
The text messages are intended to help customers understand the SIM update and free replacement procedures in advance and smoothly receive measures suited to their situation. LG Uplus is also providing related procedures and precautions on its website along with the messages.
From April 8, customers can check via the U+one app or website whether they are eligible for a SIM update or replacement. Customers who want a SIM update or free replacement at stores can visit more conveniently by booking in advance from that day using the "store visit reservation" service in the U+one app or on the website. SIM updates can be handled easily from April 13 through the U+one app or the LG Uplus website without visiting a store.
An LG Uplus official said, "We are carrying out text guidance, consultations and on-site preparations together so customers can accurately understand SIM-related measures and use the service without inconvenience." The official said, "We will continue customer protection measures without disruption through securing sufficient SIM supplies, stable delivery and accurate guidance."
