Bitcoin fails to break $90,000 barrier as options positioning caps moves

Options market positioning is being cited as a key reason Bitcoin has struggled to move decisively around $90,000. A Deribit report said growing short-term options activity and open interest clustered near current strike prices are constraining volatility ahead of a large Jan. 30 expiry. Data from Coinglass shows Bitcoin options open interest at about $38.7 billion. Deribit estimated about $8.4 billion in notional value will expire on Jan. 30.
