Cybersecurity race intensifies in AI era; defense automation seen as answer
As artificial intelligence spreads and cyber threats grow, security systems should shift toward automation and self-reliance, speakers said at an Information Security Day event in Seoul. Korea University professor Sang-geun Lee said hacking could become routine by 2028 and that gaps in defense automation would widen differences in response capabilities. Other speakers warned AI itself is a new attack surface and called for AI governance, guardrails, logging and agent orchestration, while officials highlighted cooperation and recognition of security contributors.

onsemi to sell two chip plants in U.S., Philippines to cut $35 million in annual costs
Semiconductor company onsemi plans to sell two production facilities to cut manufacturing costs and improve gross margin, Cryptopolitan reported. The company will sell its Mountain Top plant in Pennsylvania and a facility in Tarlac, the Philippines, and expects annual savings of about $35 million. Silex Microsystems is set to buy the Mountain Top site, with closing targeted by January 2028. Greatek Electronics will acquire the Tarlac facility, with completion expected within 3 to 6 months.

Government issues guidelines to step up security response as AI threats spread
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Internet & Security Agency published a manual and guidelines to respond to security threats to artificial intelligence services. They said the publications aim to improve responses to AI security risks and strengthen on-site security inspection capabilities as threats such as prompt injection, abuse of privileges and data leaks rise. The documents outline threat scenarios, response measures and ways to operate AI security red teams.
