Humanoid robot specialist ARobot will build an integrated building with research and development and manufacturing functions in Ansan Science Valley (ASV) in the Gyeonggi Free Economic Zone. It plans to move to establish a mass production system for humanoid robots.

ARobot said it will sign an ASV investment agreement with the Gyeonggi Free Economic Zone Authority, Hanyang University and Ansan city on Sept. 30 at Hanyang University ERICA Prime Conference Hall.

The agreement marks the first large-scale corporate investment since ASV was designated. ARobot plans to concentrate R&D and manufacturing functions in the integrated building to push ahead with humanoid robot development and mass production.

ARobot, which started at Hanyang University ERICA's startup incubator center in 2018, is developing its own humanoid platform, actuators that are key robot drive components, and control technology. It was co-founded by Jae-kwon Han (한재권), its chief technology officer and a professor in Hanyang University ERICA's robotics engineering department who also heads Heroes Lab.

ARobot also plans to build a region-based supply chain that procures raw and auxiliary materials from parts partners in the Sihwa and Banwol industrial complexes and supplies the robots it produces to nearby manufacturing sites.

ARobot's industrial humanoid robot ALICE series appeared in the opening video of an Nvidia keynote at CES 2026 held in Las Vegas in January. At RoboCup 2026 Incheon held in July, it won Best Custom Humanoid.

ARobot CEO Yoon-seol Eom (엄윤설) said, "Through this investment, we have concentrated R&D and mass production functions and laid the groundwork to take another step forward." She added, "We will grow into a humanoid robot company representing South Korea."
