Apple issues emergency security patch for iPhone and Mac users on iOS 26

Apple has fixed a security vulnerability found in iOS 26, iPadOS 26 and macOS 26, saying the flaw may already have been exploited and could have been used in highly sophisticated attacks targeting users on versions before iOS 27. The weakness was found in a core graphics engine used for interface and screen processing. Apple classified it as CVE-2026-86950. Meta’s security team discovered the flaw.

MacBook Pro redesign nears with changes to display, input and camera design

Apple’s next MacBook Pro, expected to be unveiled in October, could add an OLED display, touchscreen support and remove the notch, an IT outlet reported. The product name may also be referred to as “MacBook Ultra” in some cases. OLED is cited as the biggest change, potentially improving blacks, contrast and battery life. The Mac is expected to keep trackpad-and-keyboard input as standard, with touch as a supplement.

Intel Mac users stop at Tahoe as macOS 27 upgrade not available

Apple has ended support for Macs using Intel processors starting with its latest operating system, macOS 27 Golden Gate. The update runs only on Macs with Apple silicon such as M-series and A-series chips, including the 2020 M1 MacBook Air and MacBook Pro and later models. Intel-based models such as the 2019 16-inch MacBook Pro cannot upgrade. macOS 26 Tahoe is the last major release for some Intel Macs.
