U.S. CLARITY Act nears Senate Banking Committee approval after Kennedy backs bill

The U.S. Senate’s crypto market-structure bill, the CLARITY Act, is nearing passage in the Senate Banking Committee after Senator John Kennedy, the last undecided Republican vote, decided to support it. The committee has 13 Republicans and 11 Democrats, and unanimous Republican backing has been seen as key. Republicans agreed after changes including a fiduciary duty provision for crypto industry participants and packaging with parts of the Build Now housing bill.
