Kakao union presses ahead with first headquarters strike, warns of second walkout on June 29 logoff day

Kakao\'s labour union held the company\'s first partial strike at headquarters and staged a large rally around Pangyo, demanding job security and accountability from management. The union said it would also stage an additional walkout on June 29 dubbed a \"logoff day\". The dispute over whether performance pay includes restricted stock units has broadened into conflict over compensation system changes and job insecurity.

IT firms expand internal developer platform builds to boost productivity

South Korean IT companies are building and upgrading internal developer platforms (IDPs) to improve development productivity. The platforms standardise repetitive infrastructure tasks such as server configuration, deployment and access control, allowing developers to focus on service development. Yanolja, Viva Republica and Daangn are cited as adopters. Gartner forecasts that by 2026, 80 percent of large software organisations will run dedicated platform engineering teams, up from 45 percent in 2022.
