Walmart signs long-term nuclear power supply deal in Illinois

Walmart has signed a long-term power purchase agreement to receive electricity generated at a U.S. nuclear power plant, strengthening its strategy to secure clean energy. The deal with Constellation covers about 176 megawatts from the Dresden Clean Energy Center in Illinois, including 30 MW from boosted output at the existing plant. The contracts begin in 2029 and 2030 and run for 15 years each, with power also supporting Walmart logistics facilities.

As commercial use of delivery drones and air taxis draws closer, securing safety after an aircraft failure has emerged as a key task, researchers said. Queensland University of Technology researchers said that as autonomous aircraft increase over cities, a system to respond safely after a failure is essential. They cited a drone show in Sydney where about 90 drones fell. They said emergency response must rapidly detect risks, choose the least dangerous option and guide the aircraft safely.

Nvidia too as U.S. AI, semiconductor stock rout sends global tech shares tumbling

U.S. semiconductor shares fell sharply, triggering profit-taking across global technology stocks that had led the AI-driven rally. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index slid 7.9 percent, with Micron, SanDisk, AMD, Qualcomm and Nvidia all lower. Selling spread to South Korea and Europe, with Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix down about 12 percent and European chip and equipment names also falling. Some investors shifted into defensive stocks.
