NamuAX develops in-house server virtualisation platform
AI infrastructure company NamuAX said on Wednesday it has developed an in-house server virtualisation platform, namuVIRT. The KVM-based infrastructure-as-a-service platform integrates management of compute, storage and network resources and supports operation of large-scale virtual machines. It provides migration tools to move virtual machines from VMware environments to KVM and supports switching between different hypervisors. The company plans to link namuVIRT with its CocktaiCloud GPU optimiser.

Foxconn replaces VMware with Arcfra HCI in shift to AI factory infrastructure
Taiwan contract electronics maker Foxconn has replaced VMware-based virtualisation environments at some operations sites with a platform from Singapore hyperconverged infrastructure company Arcfra, The Register reported on July 27. The move is seen as a response to expanding AI manufacturing environments and rising demand for GPU virtualisation. Arcfra said Foxconn adopted its Neutree AI platform to modernise dispersed factory infrastructure and improve AI model deployment, management and monitoring.

Synology launches DP5200 backup appliance with AI-based security, support for large workloads
Synology said on Tuesday it has launched the 1U ActiveProtect Appliance DP5200 and expanded its ActiveProtect lineup targeting data-protection demand from small and medium-sized businesses. The company said the DP5200 combines workload management and AI-based security features in a compact design. It supports up to 36TB and includes ActiveProtect Manager enterprise backup functions. It supports virtualisation platforms, physical infrastructure, SaaS apps and databases, with additional platforms to be added in APM 2.0.
