Japan\'s JCB pushes hands-free UWB bus fare payments for 2028 rollout
Japan\'s JCB, Resona Holdings and Odawara Device will introduce an ultra-wideband (UWB)-based payment service that lets bus passengers pay fares without taking out their smartphones. The three companies signed an MOU to jointly develop and test the service, targeting commercial rollout in 2028. Technology verification will begin in 2026, followed by limited commercial services on 일부 routes in 2027. The project also includes work to develop standards linking bus fare systems with UWB technology.

LGU+ switches in-house network to Wi-Fi 7 to strengthen smart office
LGU+ has switched its in-house wireless network to the next-generation Wi-Fi 7 standard and overhauled its authentication method and network structure. The company said it built a single companywide network environment to improve employee productivity and mobility, allowing work to continue without slowdowns or disconnections even in crowded offices. It introduced certificate-based automatic access, built a separate network for visitors and moved to a single IP system across offices.

LG Innotek wins 100 billion won order for in-vehicle WiFi 7 module
LG Innotek said on April 20 it will supply an in-vehicle WiFi 7 communications module to a major European parts company. The order is worth about 100 billion won, and mass production will begin from 2027. The module will be built into AVN (audio, video and navigation) units made by a German automotive electronics parts company and ultimately delivered to global automakers. LG Innotek said the deal will broaden its position in the vehicle connectivity market.
