Delivery apps\' monthly payments top 3 trillion won as users and spending rise

Estimated payments at South Korea’s four major delivery platforms totalled 3.03 trillion won last month, up 10 percent from a year earlier, a Wiseapp-Retail survey of credit and debit card spending showed. The number of Koreans who paid on delivery platforms rose 7 percent to 24.85 million. Shinhan Bank joins Project Hangang phase 2

Shinhan Bank said on Tuesday it will join the second phase of the Bank of Korea’s digital currency pilot, Project Hangang, to expand the use of deposit token-based payment services across everyday life. The phase aims to test the commercial viability of a digital currency payment infrastructure by enabling customers to use deposit tokens in real settings and by enhancing functions such as person-to-person transfers, interest payments and automatic conversion.
