Major delivery platforms’ estimated payment amounts posted growth for a third straight year.
Wiseapp-Retail’s sample survey of credit and debit card spending showed last month’s combined estimated payments at Baedal Minjok, Coupang Eats, Yogiyo and Ttaenggyeoyo totalled 3.03 trillion won. That was up 10 percent from 2.75 trillion won a year earlier.
A total of 24.85 million Koreans made payments on delivery platforms last month, up 7 percent from 23.27 million a year earlier. Per-capita spending indicators also rose. Average payment per person increased 3 percent to 122,349 won from 118,377 won a year earlier. Average transactions per person rose 0.4 to 5.4 from 5.
The survey is based on Wiseapp-Retail’s estimates of payments made on the services with Koreans’ credit and debit cards, using entries shown in consumers’ payment histories. It excludes payments made via bank transfer, cash transactions and gift certificates, and differs from each company’s actual sales.
