KRX to launch after-hours market, trading until 8 p.m. from Sept. 14
The Korea Exchange (KRX) will operate an after-hours market from Sept. 14, allowing real-time stock trading until 8 p.m. after the regular session ends. The exchange said it revised rules for its KOSPI and KOSDAQ markets and that 38 brokerages, representing 95.2 percent market share, plan to participate. Existing after-hours single-price trading will be abolished and replaced by continuous matching from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Single-stock leverage ETF margin raised to 30 million won from July 31
South Korea will bring forward measures to raise the basic margin requirement for single-stock leveraged products, including leveraged ETFs linked to Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, from July 31. The Financial Services Commission will raise the requirement from 10 million won to 30 million won in cash for new trades or additional purchases. It will also restrict margin reductions by brokerages and tighten rules on recognising sale proceeds and substitute securities.

South Korea\'s Financial Services Commission plans to overhaul financial sector governance, including changes to the process for renewing chief executives to block long-term control built on friendly boards. It also plans to expand the National Growth Fund to 200 trillion won and pursue a full lifting of network separation rules to support productive finance and artificial intelligence transformation. The FSC also outlined steps on inclusive finance, regional policy finance and capital market reforms.
