Apple\'s next MacBook Pro may add touch OLED and slimmer, lighter design

Apple is increasingly likely to adopt an OLED display and touchscreen at the same time in its next MacBook Pro, with repeated signs of touch input found in a recent macOS beta. Reports also point to a major redesign that would make the laptop thinner and lighter by reworking its internal structure and miniaturising components. The model is expected to include OLED and touch, with possible M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, and a launch seen as likely in late October or November.

Supermicro starts shipping Nvidia Vera Rubin NVL72 rack, supplying units with 1,152 GPUs

Supermicro said on Sept. 29 it has started shipping Nvidia\'s Vera Rubin NVL72 rack that integrates its data center building block solution DCBBS and direct liquid cooling technology stack DLC-2. The company said it will take orders and supply the rack in scalable units. Each unit supports 1,152 GPUs and 331TB of HBM4 memory. It also said it tests and validates racks with the liquid cooling system integrated to shorten deployment time.

Agent era accelerates multi-model use; small models set to take larger share

Multi-model use inside generative AI services is already common, with different-sized models dividing work, a Ravlub researcher said. Small models handle routine tasks such as search, information gathering and summarisation, while frontier models take key decisions and generate outputs. As agents spread, repeatedly calling top-performance models can push inference costs higher. He said small models will not replace frontier models, citing scaling, but role-based use of multiple model sizes will expand.
