South Korea to cut national R&D administrative forms to 154 from 2,171
South Korea will sharply reduce administrative paperwork tied to national research and development projects and integrate research support systems, aiming to let researchers spend less time on forms and evidence submissions. The Ministry of Science and ICT said a reform plan was approved at a ministerial meeting on May 29. The plan would abolish 1,952 forms, digitise 65 and standardise the rest as 154 permitted forms, while upgrading IRIS and integrating major support systems by 2028.

Science ministry and IP office discuss R&D2IP strategy to strengthen performance links
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korean Intellectual Property Office held a joint R&D to IP (R&D2IP) strategy consultative meeting on Tuesday to discuss ways to strengthen inter-agency cooperation. About 20 participants from related institutions and private-sector experts attended. They discussed a cooperation system across the R&D process, from project planning and execution to patent creation and commercialisation. The agencies plan to run the platform regularly and develop policy and institutional improvement tasks.

Park In-kyu meets drafters of 6th science and technology master plan
Park In-kyu (박인규), head of the Ministry of Science and ICT’s science and technology innovation office, met members drafting the sixth basic plan for science and technology covering 2026 to 2030 on Monday and shared key policy directions. The ministry said it prepared a draft plan after appointing about 90 experts and holding committee and subcommittee meetings and on-site sessions. The draft will undergo a public hearing on May 28 before final approval in June.
