SpaceX orbital data centre plan may need up to 42 launches a day

SpaceX\'s plan for an orbital data centre envisioned as future AI infrastructure is technically feasible, but major obstacles remain before commercialisation, an analysis said. The biggest challenge is building an unprecedented satellite constellation and launch system. The concept includes operating 1 million satellites producing 120 GW and using tens of millions to 100 million GPUs. Analysts cited heavy satellite mass, cooling limits in space, huge manufacturing and network costs, and communications latency as constraints.

Rableup presents large-scale AI infrastructure operations at ITU AI event

Rableup, an AI infrastructure platform company, said on Monday it presented a case study on operating large-scale AI infrastructure at the UN International Telecommunication Union\'s AI for Good Global Summit 2026. The seventh edition of the summit was held from July 7 to 10 at Palexpo in Geneva, Switzerland, drawing more than 12,000 participants from 170 countries. CTO Jun-gi Kim presented a 15-minute session on cross-stack optimisation.

Science ministry launches cross-government task force to support AI data centre buildout

South Korea will begin full-scale operation of a cross-government task force to support an AI data centre megaproject. The Ministry of Science and ICT held the first meeting on July 14 with related ministries. The task force will review support measures needed to build and operate AI data centres, including timely site 확보, stable electricity and water supply, stronger competitiveness in related materials, parts and equipment, and attracting large-scale financial investment.
