Court documents tied to Elon Musk’s lawsuit against OpenAI CEO Sam Altman have disclosed previously unknown details about cooperation between OpenAI and Microsoft. Altman proposed a larger partnership after OpenAI’s Dota 2 bot beat a professional gamer in 2017, seeking about $300 million in Azure computing support. Internal emails showed skepticism and concerns about OpenAI turning to Amazon. Microsoft later invested $1 billion. The Verge reported ties are now less close.

Microsoft has overhauled the leadership of its struggling Xbox division and redeployed staff from its CoreAI organisation. Xbox CEO Asha Sharma said in an internal memo the company must change how it works and its organisational structure to deliver results faster. The revamp follows a slide in game revenue, while rivals have outpaced Xbox in hardware sales. Microsoft is also reorganising subscriptions and cloud, naming David Schloss to lead those businesses.
