Qualcomm unveils \'High Bandwidth Compute\' as HBM alternative, enters AI chip race

Qualcomm is stepping up its return to the data centre AI chip market with a new memory architecture using LPDDR instead of high-bandwidth memory (HBM). It unveiled High Bandwidth Compute and plans to launch its AI250 inference accelerator in mid-2027. Qualcomm says the near-memory design can deliver up to 133TB/s bandwidth and improve bandwidth per watt versus HBM, though some note the comparisons are not like-for-like. It is also strengthening ties with Meta and Microsoft.

Anthropic\'s Claude moves into major B2B SaaS platforms, friend or foe

Anthropic is adding Claude features to Salesforce\'s Slack, while Microsoft is developing a way to use Claude in Teams. Microsoft CEO says all companies should build their own AI models

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella (사티아 나델라) has urged companies to build AI models suited to their own needs, Business Insider reported. In an interview with Applied Compute co-founder Yashi Patil, Nadella said there should be as many AI models as there are companies because firms are ultimately learning systems. He warned that concentrating AI in a few models could pose long-term risks to the broader economy.
