KOSPI breaks 6,600 for first time on semiconductor surge
South Korea\'s KOSPI rose to a record on April 27, breaking above 6,600 for the first time as semiconductor shares surged and foreign inflows strengthened the rally. The index closed up 2.15 percent at 6,615.03 after opening higher and extending gains through the session. Individuals were net sellers, while foreign investors and institutions were net buyers. The Kosdaq also advanced, and the won strengthened against the dollar.

KOSPI ends flat around 6,475 as Kosdaq hits highest in 25 years
South Korea\'s KOSPI ended in a narrow range on Friday as the market digested recent consecutive gains. The benchmark closed unchanged at 6,475.63 after opening higher and briefly rising to 6,516.54. Individuals and institutions were net buyers, while foreign investors sold. The Kosdaq rose 2.51 percent to 1,203.84, its highest close since Aug. 4, 2000. The won weakened slightly against the dollar.

Hana Securities Q1 operating profit rises 47.9 percent to 141.6 billion won
Hana Securities said on April 24 it posted a consolidated first-quarter operating profit of 141.6 billion won and net profit of 103.3 billion won. Operating profit rose 47.9 percent from a year earlier and net profit increased 37.1 percent. First-quarter revenue was 8.67 trillion won, up about 138 percent from a year earlier. The company cited timely responses by business divisions in a volatile market environment.
