Cognition acquires text-based AI assistant Fork, adds \'friend-like\' chat to Devin

Cognition, an AI coding startup, has acquired Fork, a text-based AI assistant operated by The Interaction Company of California. Cognition plans to incorporate Fork’s conversational style and personality into its coding AI service Devin. Fork will use Cognition’s models and infrastructure to improve response speed and stability. Fork is positioned as a friend-like chat service that replies with slang and humor. It launched in March 2026 and runs on iMessage, SMS, Telegram and WhatsApp.

ChatGPT expands parental controls, notifies guardians when teen accounts are disabled for policy violations

OpenAI has introduced a feature in ChatGPT that notifies linked parent or guardian accounts when a teen user account is removed for violating policies related to online violence. The move expands existing youth protections meant to help families identify risky situations sooner. OpenAI also added the ability to turn on Study Mode directly from parental controls and increased break reminders for teens who use ChatGPT for long periods.

Tesla rolls out in-car Grok AI in Japan, beta available without extra fees

Tesla has begun supporting the conversational AI Grok in its vehicles in Japan. Japan ITmedia reported that Tesla Japan announced the rollout on its official X account. The feature is available on vehicles running software version 2026.20 or later and requires a Premium Connectivity subscription, with an English help page also noting Wi-Fi as an option. The beta does not require a separate Grok account or additional fees as of July 10, but it does not support vehicle control functions such as climate or media.
