Middle East war wipes out 500 million barrels of oil in seven weeks; supply chain recovery may take months to years

More than 500 million barrels have been removed from global oil supply in about seven weeks due to the impact of the Trump-Iran war, causing losses worth more than $50 billion in crude value. The shock, which began in late February and continues, is disrupting prices, storage and trade flows. Attention remains on the Strait of Hormuz, where traffic has partly resumed, though markets still watch for a possible renewed closure.
