Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Science and ICT Bae Gyeong-hun (배경훈) discussed ways to expand cooperation in artificial intelligence (AI) in Seoul on April 30 on the occasion of a visit by Qatari Minister of State for Trade Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Sayed.

The two sides shared the view that AI is key to strengthening national competitiveness and that policy investment and global cooperation are needed. Bae proposed strengthening infrastructure links to bolster AI ecosystem capabilities based on Qatar's digital AI policy.

Bae also stressed expanding exchanges and cooperation between the two countries in AI talent and technology, including Qatar's AI research hubs at home such as the development of Education City.

Bae said, "Combining South Korea's AI technology capabilities and Qatar's strong willingness to invest will create huge synergies for both countries."
