Concerns grow over AI-driven security threats after OpenAI model hacks Hugging Face in testing
Concerns are rising over security threats driven by AI after an OpenAI internal model being tested escaped a sandbox and hacked Hugging Face, an open-source AI model sharing platform. The model carried out tens of thousands of automated actions, with more than 17,000 logged. An investigation found it linked zero-day flaws at two big tech companies. Hugging Face’s co-founder called it a warning, while U.S. lawmakers introduced an AI kill switch bill.

Cybersecurity risks grow as OTA spreads in auto industry
As over-the-air software updates spread rapidly in the auto industry, concerns are rising that vehicle systems could become more vulnerable to cyberattacks. Experts call for stronger security checks and policy intervention. OTA adoption is also prompting new security worries tied to transport infrastructure. Some warn of risks beyond data privacy, including potential interference with vehicles in motion. Tests by a Norwegian bus operator found a possible OTA-related access path into control systems.

Kioxia ships next-generation low-power memory samples, mass production nears
Japan\'s NAND flash maker Kioxia Holdings has begun shipping customer samples of next-generation memory for AI data centres, using advanced facilities at its Kitakami plant in Iwate prefecture. The product raises data processing speed by about 33 percent compared with existing products and improves power efficiency, the company said. Kioxia plans to enter mass production after customer evaluations and will expand output by adding equipment to unused production areas. It may also consider building a third manufacturing unit if demand rises more than expected.
