[DigitalToday reporter Choi Jae-won (최재원)] German electric bicycle company Lemmo (LEMMO) unveiled the Lemmo 3 (LEMMO 3), a new cargo e-bike equipped with a semi-solid-state battery. It is one of the early e-bikes to adopt a semi-solid-state battery, highlighting longer range and higher safety than existing products.

IT outlet The Verge reported on Oct. 1 (local time) that the Lemmo 3 uses a 960Wh semi-solid-state battery and can travel up to 180 km on a single charge. Lemmo said, "Compared with conventional liquid-electrolyte-based lithium-ion batteries, we reduced size and weight by 20 percent and increased lifespan by 30 percent." It uses a gel-type electrolyte to lower the risk of thermal runaway and boost stability even if cells are damaged in a crash.

The battery can be detached and used as an auxiliary power source. With an optional V2L inverter connected, it can supply power to home appliances with output of up to 1,000W, and USB-C devices can be charged at up to 66W.

The Lemmo 3 is a longtail cargo e-bike and weighs 39 kg including the battery. Total payload capacity is 200 kg. It can carry up to 80 kg on the rear rack and up to 20 kg on the front rack. It supports the MIK HD standard, allowing various accessories such as child seats, bags and cargo boxes to be mounted.

The rear hub motor is offered by region with specifications of 750W in the United States, 500W in Canada and 250W in Europe, with maximum torque of 90Nm. It also applies an adaptive AI shifting function that selects an appropriate gear in real time based on sensor information. Buyers can also choose a combination of a three-speed automatic transmission and a belt drive system.

It also supports rear radar, turn signals and brake lights, a 3.5-inch touchscreen, GPS and LTE tracking, and OTA updates. Lemmo is preparing the launch through Kickstarter, with an early reservation price of 1,890 euros (about 2.89 million won) excluding tax. The first delivery target is April 2027.
