NASA releases space selfies shot on iPhone 17 Pro Max
NASA is using consumer smartphones as working cameras on its crewed lunar-orbit mission Artemis II. The agency issued each of the four astronauts an iPhone 17 Pro Max and allowed use during the flight, with internet and Bluetooth disabled and the devices restricted to recording. NASA has released photos taken inside the Orion spacecraft, including crew images shot with the front camera. Lunar imagery has also drawn attention.

U.S. Congress introduces bill to tighten chip tool export controls to China, targeting ASML DUV
The U.S. Congress has introduced new export-control legislation aimed at blocking sales, maintenance and technical support for semiconductor equipment to major Chinese chip firms, Cryptopolitan reported. The bipartisan MATCH Act would narrow access to key tools China cannot produce and extends restrictions beyond advanced EUV to older DUV systems, including ASML immersion DUV. The bill lists firms such as SMIC and Huawei and would press allies to strengthen rules within 150 days.

DJI unveils lightweight RS 5 gimbal for solo production
DJI said on Thursday it will launch a new lightweight commercial camera gimbal, the DJI RS 5. The company said the RS 5 is designed to improve usability in one-person video production with enhanced intelligent subject tracking, stabilisation and battery efficiency. It includes an upgraded tracking module and a fifth-generation stabilisation algorithm. DJI said the RS 5 will be sold from Jan. 30 in two options through official distributors and the DJI online store.
