MSIT holds \'Quantum Technology Understanding Day\' to expand basis for converged research
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT is moving to expand converged research between quantum technology and advanced fields including AI, semiconductors and biotech. The ministry will hold a \'Quantum Technology Understanding Day\' event on Sept. 3 at the National Research Foundation of Korea\'s Daejeon office. Academics, researchers and industry officials will discuss directions for convergence, hear invited talks on quantum machine learning and hybrid environments linking quantum and supercomputers, and receive briefings on new quantum-AI and quantum processor programmes.

POSTECH professor Choi Soo-seok wins September Korea science and technology award
Choi Soo-seok (최수석), a professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Pohang University of Science and Technology, has been selected as the September winner of South Korea’s Science and Technology Award, the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Research Foundation of Korea said on Tuesday. He was recognised for developing “real full colour” technology using chiral nanostructures to directly generate and control colours and wavelengths across the visible spectrum.

Science vice minister holds K-Moonshot meeting to discuss project roadmaps
Goo Hyeok-chae (구혁채), first vice minister at the Ministry of Science and ICT, discussed future plans by mission under the K-Moonshot programme. He chaired a meeting in Sejong on Aug. 10, marking the conversion of the programme director posts to national special-appointed researchers and the opening of the support team office. Officials from mission teams and related agencies attended. The meeting discussed mission roadmaps, cooperation and wider use of AI in research.
