Ford says next-generation EVs will have self-diagnostics to catch assembly errors

Ford will add a function to its next-generation electric vehicle platform that lets a vehicle check its own assembly condition. From the moment power is supplied, an onboard computer will verify internal connections and immediately alert workers to errors. CEO Jim Farley said the approach differs from vision systems that check fastening after workers. Ford said factory cameras will still be used. It will disclose more assembly details on the universal EV platform in January.

Tesla Cybercab appears involved in Philadelphia incident, door panel separates

A Tesla Cybercab robotaxi appears to have been involved in an incident in Philadelphia, with a photo showing the entire left door outer panel detached. A Reddit user who posted the image said it looked like a low-speed collision, though they did not witness the moment of impact. The glass was not broken and no clear deformation was visible inside the door, but damage appeared on the rocker trim and rear quarter panel.
