Postmen to check on residents and help with surveys as Korea Post expands public role

Korea Post is expanding the role of postmen to act as a “last mile” in national administration, including identifying welfare blind spots and carrying out administrative checks. It shifted from one-off disaster response to a permanent delivery system for welfare and administrative services after introducing “welfare mail” in 2022. Legal grounds were strengthened in May through an amendment. Projects also include statistical surveys and environmental collection efforts such as unused medicines and e-cigarettes.

Korea Post to deliver honour plaques to families of soldiers, police killed in Korean War

The Ministry of Science and ICT’s Korea Post and the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs signed an agreement on June 30 to award honour plaques to families of soldiers and police who died in the Korean War. The programme aims to honour their sacrifice and improve courtesy services for elderly bereaved families. Using post offices and letter carrier networks nationwide, Korea Post plans to visit homes to deliver plaques and provide a checklist-based follow-up service from 2026.

Woori Financial launches \'Woori Hero Remembrance Campaign\'

Woori Financial Group\'s Woori Financial Future Foundation is launching a campaign to honor the dedication of uniformed public servants who died or were injured in the line of duty. The foundation said on June 5 it will run the 2026 Woori Hero Remembrance Campaign in June, South Korea\'s month of remembrance and patriotism. The online campaign runs on the group\'s official social media channels through June 30, with selected messages turned into AI videos.
