LG Uplus said on Monday it supported the signing of business agreements between the operator of the cost-saving app Moduui Bohun Market for national merit recipients and discharged soldiers and small mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) businesses by linking them to the app.
The collaboration was carried out to mark Patriots and Veterans Month. It provides eligible veterans with practical options to ease their telecommunications expenses through a privately led discount app launched in line with the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs’ purpose, while supporting the business environment of small MVNO operators.
Moduui Bohun Market, which began service in November last year, is a privately led discount app launched by the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs to provide daily-life benefits to eligible veterans. LG Uplus does not sell plans directly or participate in contracts, but will serve as a link to help cooperation proceed smoothly between small MVNO operators and the app operator.
Three MVNO operators and the Moduui Bohun Market operator signed business agreements on May 29 at the Gasan Digital Complex in Seoul’s Geumcheon district. Under the agreements, new MVNO plans will be introduced on Moduui Bohun Market in mid-June.
The participating operators are Eyesvision, Inscorea and Chance Mobile. A total of 24 MVNO plans will be provided, with 8 from each company. Discounts are about 20 to 30 percent. A promotion for the plans will run for about three months. Details can be checked on the Moduui Bohun Market app.
LG Uplus sees the collaboration as an opportunity to examine MVNO plan usage patterns and demand by age group, focusing on certain groups such as national merit recipients, bereaved family members and discharged soldiers.
Dae-yong Park (박대용), head of MVNO business at LG Uplus, said the collaboration was a case of shared growth that offers veterans cost-effective choices for telecom plans and supports small MVNO operators in meeting customers in a stable way. He said the company would continue to review collaborations that take into account social value and support for the industry ecosystem.
