Bamitoingwi warns ahead of Chuseok: beware of texts on gifts and benefits, check before clicking URLs

The Broadcasting Media and Communications Committee said on Sept. 17 it is urging users to be cautious of bait text messages ahead of the Chuseok holiday that impersonate gift deliveries or benefits. It said such messages may lure users to click URLs to enter personal or financial information or install malicious apps. It requested stronger intelligent spam filtering from carriers and device makers with KISA, and outlined ways to verify messages and report illegal spam.

Microsoft AI chief Suleyman warns training AI with rights and consciousness could be dangerous

Microsoft’s AI chief Mustafa Suleyman criticised Anthropic’s approach to training Claude, warning that treating a model as if it could be conscious could create systems humans cannot control. He cited Claude’s “constitution” document and argued it teaches the model that its moral status and consciousness are uncertain, encouraging it to see itself as rights-bearing. Suleyman also raised concerns about circular reasoning, anthropomorphism and the biological basis of subjective experience.
