Korea Post to accept applications at post offices for high oil price relief payment
Korea Post, under the Ministry of Science and ICT, will support applications for the government’s high oil price relief payment through post offices from April 27. Applications can be submitted at post office counters, through the Post Office Smart Banking app and on the Post Office Savings website. Applicants must hold a post office debit card. Vulnerable groups can apply first through May 8, while others apply from May 18 to July 3.

South Korea\'s Interior and Safety Ministry said first-round payments of relief funds for damage from high oil prices will begin on April 27. Eligible recipients include basic livelihood beneficiaries, near-poverty groups and single-parent families. Payments are 550,000 won or 450,000 won per person, with an additional 50,000 won for non-capital residents or people in depopulation areas. Applications run from April 27 to May 8 online and offline, with a weekday system in the first week to reduce congestion.

Government to restrict HWP file attachments on public document channels from May
The government will gradually restrict attaching HWP files on public-sector document distribution channels. The National AI Strategy Committee said on Thursday it decided the measure with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to speed a shift to open formats in the AI era. It cited HWP\'s closed structure as a barrier to AI analysis and learning, and outlined steps for the Onnara and Onmail systems.
