NTT tests homegrown AI to cut school administrative work in Japan

Japan\'s telecoms company NTT has begun a pilot to introduce its in-house AI into administrative work at elementary and junior high schools. NTT West is working with Ibaraki city in Osaka prefecture to test the Tsuzumi 2 large language model, aiming to reduce staff time spent searching for materials and writing documents. The system runs on on-premises servers with access controls to address data security concerns. The trial runs until March 31, 2027.

The Financial Services Commission is considering a 20 percent cap, with options such as allowing up to 34 percent under conditions or limiting voting rights. With second-stage legislation stalled, uncertainty is affecting deals and investments involving Naver Financial, Dunamu, Coinone and Korbit.
