K-AI models expand on-site use from national heritage to bank branches

South Korean artificial intelligence models are spreading across industrial sites, from national heritage services to in-car voice recognition and bank branch design. Motif Technologies will embed its AI model in services for the National Heritage Promotion Agency, including the text-based image generation service HAI, selected as an official case for the AI for Good Global Summit in July. LG AI Research and FuriosaAI are running EXAONE on FuriosaAI’s RNGD NPU, while SK Telecom’s 42dot unveiled Gleo AI. NC AI will support Shinhan Bank branch design using digital twins.

Korean team wins 10 medals at Asian Physics Olympiad

South Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity said the country’s 10-member delegation won medals at the 26th Asian Physics Olympiad, held in Busan from May 17 to 25. The team earned 8 gold medals, 1 silver and 1 bronze in a competition that drew 208 students from 27 countries. Students selected through an International Physics Olympiad training programme all won golds.

Webzen Q1 operating profit falls 39.6 percent, seeks rebound through genre diversification

Webzen said on Monday its first-quarter operating profit fell 39.6 percent from a year earlier to 5.3 billion won, while revenue slipped 5.2 percent to 39.3 billion won. Net profit rose 596.2 percent to 8.8 billion won, reflecting a base effect from weak results a year earlier. The company cited a sharp contraction in the domestic game market, while overseas revenue held up and accounted for 51 percent of sales. It is developing multiple new games.
