The Ministry of Science and ICT said it held a launch ceremony on Sunday at the Government Complex Sejong for the third 2030 Youth Advisory Group to reflect young people's perspectives in science, technology and information and communications policies, including artificial intelligence.
The advisory group was formed through an open recruitment process and document and interview screening in April. It comprises 21 members, including science and engineering university students, researchers and startup CEOs. It will be responsible for policy suggestions, gathering and conveying youth opinion, and identifying policy ideas.
The ceremony began with welcome remarks by Vice Prime Minister and Science and ICT Minister Bae Kyung-hoon (배경훈). It then proceeded to the presentation of an appointment certificate to newly appointed youth aide Lee Mu-geun (이무근) and the awarding of letters of appointment to the advisory group members. A luncheon meeting between Bae and the members followed.
Bae said, "The more we live in an era where AI takes over many tasks, the more what changes the world is the questions, experiences and creative ideas unique to people that even generative AI cannot imitate." He added, "Please convey the voices from the field of the youth advisory group members without filtering, and become a bridge connecting policy and society."
