AMD to build 2 AI supercomputers in UK, invest $2 billion over five years
AMD will invest $2 billion in Britain over the next five years to build artificial intelligence supercomputer infrastructure. The company said funds will go to AI research programmes and supercomputer construction, including a first system, Zenith, at the University of Cambridge. A second system, Sunrise, will be co-developed with the UK Atomic Energy Authority and designed for fusion research. CEO Lisa Su said the investment will improve access to computing resources for Britain’s “sovereign AI.”

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang (황젠슨) is expected to visit Naver’s second headquarters, 1784, during his trip to South Korea this week, an industry source said. The companies are coordinating the visit, with June 8 seen as the most likely date. Huang is also expected to meet separately with Naver board chairman Lee Hae-jin (이해진) on June 5 to discuss broad cooperation on AI infrastructure, sovereign AI and physical AI.

AI lead stock rotation puts memory, CPU and fiber optic firms in focus
AI infrastructure investment enthusiasm led by Nvidia is spreading quickly to a wider range of hardware companies, CNBC reported. This week, shares of AMD and Intel rose about 25% each, Micron gained more than 35% and Corning climbed about 20%. All four have more than doubled this year. Intel has risen more than 200%, while Nvidia is up 16%. Analysts also highlighted strong momentum in memory and CPUs, while warning of potential corrections.
