South Korea's National AI Strategy Committee said on March 19 that Vice Chair Lim Moon-young (임문영) and presidential AI and Future Planning Secretary Ha Jung-woo (하정우) met AMD CEO Lisa Su, who is visiting the country, to discuss AI cooperation between Korea and AMD.

Lim and Ha introduced a strategy to become one of the top three AI powers, including building a nationwide AI expressway. They also heard from Su about the results of her visit and her assessment. Su expressed satisfaction that the visit strengthened cooperation with domestic AI companies.

The two sides agreed to expand public-private cooperation so that more South Korean companies can create synergies through AMD's open AI ecosystem, based on the current cooperation model. They also shared an understanding of the importance of industrial AI transformation for balanced regional development, including building data centres.

They also explored a range of cooperation options, including training AI software talent linked to the national AI project for solving difficult challenges, dubbed K-Moonshot, as well as joint development and research.

The committee said, "Korea and AMD agreed to continue expanding mutually beneficial cooperation to build a global open AI ecosystem."
