LG Chem to focus on AI chips, auto materials; targets 2 trillion won electronic materials sales by 2030
LG Chem plans to double sales from its electronic materials business to 2 trillion won by 2030, positioning the segment as a key future growth pillar. The company said it will respond to rising demand for high-performance materials used in AI semiconductors, autonomous driving and next-generation displays. It will expand semiconductor packaging materials, broaden automotive material offerings and accelerate development of display materials for applications such as XR and robots.

K-battery industry targets mass production of all-solid-state batteries key to humanoids
South Korea\'s battery industry is ramping up a full-scale push from cell manufacturing to materials development with the goal of mass-producing all-solid-state batteries in 2027. The batteries are seen as a game-changer for humanoid robots, drones and other next-generation sectors, offering about 1,000 Wh/L energy density and higher safety than lithium-ion cells. Companies plan to showcase development progress and materials portfolios at InterBattery 2026.

LG opens AI graduate school; Koo Kwang-mo says AI centre is people
LG held an opening ceremony for its LG AI Graduate School in Seoul on Tuesday. The programme is an in-house graduate school authorised by the education ministry to award master\'s and doctoral degrees. LG Chief Executive Koo Kwang-mo gifted new LG Gram laptops with the Exaone AI model to new students and stressed training AI specialists focused on people. The first intake includes 11 master\'s and 6 doctoral students from several LG affiliates.
