Qualcomm unveils AI-enabled Snapdragon Wear Elite, Samsung and Google adoption possible
Qualcomm has unveiled Snapdragon Wear Elite, a next-generation wearable processor aimed at boosting on-device AI and power efficiency. Built on a 3-nanometre process, it brings the Elite brand to wearables for the first time and supports Android, Wear OS and Linux. The chip combines low-power AI and a Hexagon NPU that supports large language models. Qualcomm said battery life and connectivity options can improve. Google, Samsung and Motorola may adopt it.

OpenAI\'s first hardware to be camera-equipped smart speaker, priced $200 to $300
A report says OpenAI plans to launch a smart speaker as its first hardware product in 2027. The OpenAI-branded device is expected to include a camera and a facial recognition system in addition to ChatGPT features, with a price estimated at $200 to $300. OpenAI expanded into hardware by buying a company founded by Jony Ive for $6.5 billion last year and is developing the speaker for a March 2027 launch.

Electric vehicle touchscreen pushback as physical buttons return
Cars have become more minimalist and digital in the electric-vehicle era, with climate knobs disappearing, door handles hidden in bodywork and volume dials replaced by haptic sliders. Business Insider reported on Feb. 14 that regulatory pressure and consumer complaints are driving a shift back to physical buttons. Audi, Ferrari and Volkswagen cited more tactile controls, and even Tesla is redesigning flush door handles as safety scrutiny grows in China, the United States and Europe.
