OpenAI will launch a hardware device related to its AI coding tool Codex on July 15.
In a video posted on social media platform X on June 29 local time, OpenAI showed a square device with multiple buttons and said users’ favourite Codex shortcuts were being upgraded.
The Verge reported the product is separate from an AI device OpenAI is developing with former Apple designer Jony Ive. The outlet said OpenAI is collaborating with Work Louder, a maker of mechanical keyboards and macropads.
The Verge said the device silhouette in the video is similar to the Work Louder Creator Micro2. The macropad has 13 mechanical switches, a joystick and a touch sensor, and allows users to assign shortcuts and customised actions by app.
Detailed specifications were not disclosed, but more information is expected soon.
