Yoon Suk Yeol sentenced to life in prison as court finds insurrection over martial law

Former South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol was sentenced to life in prison at first instance on charges of being the ringleader of an insurrection linked to the Dec. 3 martial law episode. The court said it was hard to deny he intended to block and paralyse parliamentary activity by sending troops to seal the National Assembly and arrest key figures. It also cited sentencing factors including planning and social costs.
