MSIT publishes casebook for AI Basic Act help desk

South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT on March 31 published a casebook of frequently asked questions and answers to support early on-site implementation of the AI Basic Act. The publication draws on questions received through a help desk opened on Jan. 22 and focuses on 20 common queries. The ministry said consultation volumes fell over time, and most online inquiries came from companies, with transparency labelling obligations the most common topic.

MSIT launches research group on improving AI Framework Act

South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT on Tuesday launched a research group on improving the AI Framework Act and held its first meeting. The act took effect on Jan. 22 after passing the National Assembly in December last year through a bipartisan agreement following more than four years of deliberations. The ministry is applying a regulatory grace period of at least one year to minimise confusion for companies in the early phase.

KOSPI sidecar triggered 10 times this year, most since global financial crisis

The KOSPI sidecar mechanism has been triggered 10 times in less than two months since last month, the Korea Exchange said. There were four buy-side and six sell-side activations between Feb. 2 and March 23. The KOSDAQ market saw six triggers this year. The exchange said the highest annual total since 2002 was 26 in 2008, with this year the next highest so far.
