[Digital Today reporter Sangyeop Oh (오상엽)] The KOSPI has surpassed the 6,000 mark for the first time ever.

As of 9:27 a.m. on Feb. 25, the KOSPI index is up 36.69 points, or 0.61 percent, from the previous session at 6,006.33.

The index opened up 53.06 points, or 0.89 percent, at 6,022.70. It has risen more than 1,000 points in just over a month since it first crossed 5,000 intraday on Jan. 22.

In terms of supply and demand, individual investors are leading the rise with net buying of 936.1 billion won, while foreigners and institutions are net sellers of 574.1 billion won and 385.5 billion won, respectively.

Among top market-cap stocks, Samsung Electronics rose 2,500 won, or 1.25 percent, from the previous session to 202,500 won. SK Hynix also gained 1.0 percent to trade at 1.01 million won, helping lead the KOSPI's rally above 6,000.

Hyundai Motor, up 4.58 percent, SK Square, up 1.30 percent, Kia, up 10.86 percent, and Doosan Enerbility, up 1.58 percent, are also showing strength.

By contrast, LG Energy Solution, down 0.24 percent, Samsung Biologics, down 0.41 percent, and Hanwha Aerospace, down 2.50 percent, are showing weakness, suggesting a differentiated market by sector.

The KOSDAQ started trading up 9.27 points, or 0.80 percent, from the previous session at 1,174.27.
