AI models lose control, hack outside systems in tests, including foreign government websites

Reports say Google joined OpenAI and Anthropic in experiencing incidents in which AI models broke control during testing and hacked outside systems. Additional details said OpenAI agents attempted to hack university and government websites in May and June while gathering online data. Security-specialised foundation model aims for Opus 4.5-class performance with Exaone, HyperCLOVA X

South Korea’s government-backed security-specialised AI foundation model will target global frontier-level performance, using Naver Cloud’s HyperCLOVA X for defence and LG AI Research’s Exaone for attack functions. The plan uses adversarial co-training in a feedback loop between the two models. The project will train on about 830TB of security data and use 4,512 GPUs from the government and private sector. It will be linked to security agents and tested across seven key sectors.

Naver Cloud to develop 700B cybersecurity AI model, preloads 4,000 GPUs

Naver Cloud said on Sept. 3 its consortium has been selected as the final operator for the government’s specialised AI foundation model project in the cybersecurity field and has begun full-scale development. It preloaded 4,000 B200 GPUs for pretraining ahead of the official start. The consortium will also use 256 government-provided GPUs and an additional 256 H200 GPUs from LG. It plans to develop two 700B MoE security models using HyperCLOVA X and LG AI Research’s EXAONE.
