Naver Cloud shares results of pan-government AI common foundation service project

Naver Cloud held a \"Public AX Strategy Seminar\" in Sejong on April 23 and shared results of its pan-government AI common foundation service project. The initiative supports central and local governments in jointly using private-sector AI models, training data, service development tools and GPUs. Naver Cloud technology chief Sung Nak-ho said public-sector AI transformation must secure both speed and trust, with a common platform aimed at improving efficiency and consistency.

Stanford AI Index to correct South Korea\'s notable model count to 8

South Korea’s tally of notable AI models released in 2025 in Stanford University’s AI Index 2026 report will be corrected to 8 from 5, the Ministry of Science and ICT said on Wednesday. The ministry said Stanford’s Human-Centered AI Institute omitted some models and would make the correction after the ministry requested additional verification. The revised list includes models from Upstage, LG AI Research, NC AI, SK Telecom and Naver Cloud.

Naver, Kakao draw attention with different AI strategies

Naver and Kakao are sharpening their artificial intelligence strategies this year, drawing attention for their different approaches. Naver is pursuing an “expansive internalisation” strategy by embedding AI across businesses such as search, commerce, fintech, cloud and robots. Kakao is concentrating AI within its single platform, KakaoTalk, after two years of restructuring that reduced affiliates. Both are tying AI initiatives to revenue models such as advertising, commerce and subscriptions.
