Foreigners buy for third day as KOSPI rises for fourth session to settle above 6,800
South Korean shares rose for a fourth straight session, supported by combined buying from foreign investors and institutions. Foreigners extended net buying in the main market to a third day, while chip heavyweights including Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix led gains. The KOSPI ended up 3.56 percent at 6,813.34 after approaching 6,900 intraday. The won weakened, with the dollar up 2.50 won to 1,421.50.

Foreign buying of 2.8 trillion won lifts KOSPI 3.68 percent, triggers buy sidecar
South Korea\'s benchmark KOSPI climbed more than 3 percent on Aug. 12 to 6,579.04, helped by heavy foreign buying concentrated in chip heavyweights such as Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix. A buy sidecar was triggered during trading, halting program buy orders for five minutes. Foreign investors were net buyers of 2.8357 trillion won, while individuals sold 3.1920 trillion won. The won weakened to 1,416.70 per dollar.

Korea Investment Trust Management to list strategic industries ETF
Korea Investment Trust Management will launch a new exchange-traded fund that diversifies investment across South Korean strategic industries led by semiconductors, alongside shipbuilding, defence and nuclear power. The ACE SemiconductorPlus Strategic Industries ETF will hold 10 stocks, selecting two representative names from each of five industries. The fifth industry will be chosen from a list including autos, and autos are expected at the time of listing.
