Korea Exchange held an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders and appointed new executive and outside directors. It appointed former Financial Supervisory Service deputy governor assistant Han Gu as an executive director. Public interest outside directors include Shin Yong-sang of the Korea Institute of Finance and former Smart Media Rep CEO Seok Won-hyeok. Yonsei University professor Shin Hyun-han was named a public interest outside director who will serve on the audit committee.

South Korea\'s securities industry has entered its regular annual shareholder meeting season, the first since a revision to the Commercial Act. Firms are reviewing governance changes, CEO appointments and shareholder return policies as well as performance. Key items include management lineups, revisions to corporate charters in line with the amended law, and expanded shareholder returns through dividends and treasury share cancellations. Some brokerages are keeping current leadership while others move to new CEO structures.
