Broadcast Media Communications Commission delivers farm products to child welfare facility ahead of Chuseok

South Korea\'s Broadcast Media Communications Commission said on Sept. 15 it bought agricultural and livestock products at a traditional market ahead of the Chuseok holiday and delivered them to a child welfare facility. Chairman Kim Jong-cheol visited Bakdal Market in Anyang, Gyeonggi Province, buying fruit, meat and rice cakes and hearing merchants\' difficulties. The items were delivered to Anyang\'s House, with the commission’s civil servants\' union chief joining the visit.

Google cuts Google Play fees in South Korea to as low as 10 percent, expands in-app and external payments

Google will expand payment options for Google Play developers in South Korea and cut service fees to as low as 10 percent. Developers can offer alternative payment systems or link users to external websites, subject to Google safety requirements. A 10 percent fee applies to the first $1 million of annual revenue generated on Google Play and to auto-renewing subscriptions. The changes take effect in South Korea on Dec. 31.

Korea commission adds Daum to large platform list under revised network act

South Korea\'s Broadcasting Media Communication Commission corrected the list of \"large-scale information and communications service providers\" under the revised Information and Communications Network Act to nine from eight after it confirmed that AXG, the operator of portal Daum, had been omitted. The final list includes five domestic platforms and four overseas platforms. Designated firms face obligations including handling reports of illegal or manipulated content and issuing transparency reports twice a year.
