Korea broadcast media bodies, FSS sign MOU to eradicate illegal financial information
Korea’s Broadcast Media and Telecommunications Commission, Broadcast Media and Telecommunications Review Commission and the Financial Supervisory Service signed a memorandum of understanding on June 19 to eradicate illegal financial information and create a safer digital financial environment. The agencies said they will cooperate to expand and strengthen self-regulation by internet platforms, upgrade systems to block illegal financial information and step up public campaigns to prevent harm from illegal private lending. They also plan stronger joint measures against illegal acts by finfluencers.

Broadcast Media Communications Commission holds first full meeting, reauthorises 150 stations; TBS to face hearing
South Korea\'s Broadcast Media Communications Commission held its first full meeting since its launch and cleared 23 pending items. It approved reauthorisation for 150 broadcast stations, setting licence terms based on review scores, and decided that 17 stations including TBS will undergo hearings before a final decision. It also handled drafts tied to amended broadcasting laws, follow-up rules after the repeal of the handset distribution law, and subordinate rules for a transmission qualification certification system due to take effect in September.

Google briefs Bamwit on Google Play fee-cut plan during U.S. visit
Google headquarters executives briefed the South Korean government on plans to cut payment fees on the Google Play app market. The Broadcasting Media and Communications Commission said Wilson White, Google\'s global head of public policy, and Kara Bailey, vice president for Android ecosystem strategy, met chair Kim Jong-cheol on April 1 in Gwacheon. Google explained global policy changes announced in March and discussed timing for domestic application.
