Cell-to-body race puts BYD, Volvo ahead of Tesla
BYD\'s advance in Europe\'s electric vehicle market is being driven by cell-to-body technology that integrates battery cells into the chassis, cutting weight, freeing cabin space and simplifying manufacturing. Volvo has joined the competition and is promoting the approach with its next-generation EX60 electric SUV, citing up to 810 km range and rapid charging. Tesla proposed the concept in 2020 but has shown little recent progress, raising questions about its position in next-generation batteries.
