Computex Taiwan is no longer a PC festival as AI permeates everything
A visit to the Computex 2026 show in Taipei suggests the event is shifting from a PC hardware showcase to an AI-focused exhibition. Nvidia highlighted AI-optimised devices such as RTX Spark and DGX Station, pushing large-memory systems aimed at running big models locally. Taiwan supply-chain firms showcased work on AI server racks, cooling and high-voltage direct current power distribution. The AI push also extends to robotics, autonomy and factory automation, while cost and profitability concerns remain.

Nota optimises VLA model on Qualcomm edge AI device
Nota, a company specialising in AI model slimming and optimisation, said on Thursday it succeeded in optimising a vision-language-action (VLA) model needed to implement physical AI on Qualcomm’s latest edge AI device. It said the work reduced robot action generation time by about 85.8 percent and increased inference speed by up to seven times. Nota said it demonstrated the result at Embedded Vision Summit 2026 in Santa Clara.

At CES 2026, U.S. companies showcased technologies combining AI and humanoid robots, but China holds a strong position in the parts ecosystem and manufacturing, according to a Wall Street Journal report. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang called China world-leading in microelectronics, motors, rare earths and magnets. China has pursued government-led supply chain plans and standards, while companies such as Unitree ramped shipments and targeted fundraising via a Shanghai listing.
