Qualcomm Technologies said on Tuesday it has unveiled the Qualcomm Dragonwing Q-2390 and IQ-2390 processors. The two processors are highly integrated platforms designed to increase access to intelligent edge computing across consumer, commercial and industrial segments. As demand grows for products that recognise, analyse and act on data on the device itself, Qualcomm plans to extend AI, vision, connectivity and security features to a wider range of connected devices.

The Dragonwing Q-2390 processor, part of the Dragonwing Q2 series, is designed for commercial, enterprise and consumer products that need advanced features despite constraints on cost, power and size. It integrates application compute, on-device AI, camera and display support, LTE Cat 4 and GPS-based location features, wired and wireless connectivity options, security and various input-output functions on a single platform. It can be used in retail POS systems, kiosks, access control devices, smart home appliances, smart agriculture, home robots, fitness equipment and enterprise terminals.

The Dragonwing IQ-2390 processor is the first product in the new Dragonwing IQ2 series. It complements the existing Dragonwing IQ10, IQX, IQ9, IQ8 and IQ6 series to bring intelligence to compact edge systems in industrial automation, oil and gas, utilities and energy. Alongside application processing, machine vision and AI acceleration, it combines dual gigabit ethernet that supports TSN, which guarantees data transmission within a set time. It supports operation from minus 30 degrees Celsius to 115 degrees Celsius and in vibration and shock environments, making it suitable for factories, energy infrastructure and outdoor industrial sites.

Both processors feature a quad-core Qualcomm Kryo CPU, a Qualcomm Adreno 704 GPU and a real-time RISC-V MCU. They support Linux, Android and Zephyr OS to help developers build products across various IoT fields.

Jeff Arnold (제프 아놀드), vice president and head of automotive telematics and consumer connectivity as well as industrial and embedded IoT at Qualcomm Technologies, said, "AI is fundamentally changing how connected devices are designed and built, but many product categories still face challenges in cost, complexity and integration."
