KIDZ AI weighs procuring 500 Tesla robotaxis, but actual adoption unclear

Nasdaq-listed KIDZ AI, whose shares have fallen more than 90 percent over the past year, is reviewing the possibility of adopting 500 Tesla robotaxis, but it is at the stage of an initial procurement inquiry rather than a formal purchase contract. The company said the inquiry is not a binding order or a vehicle allocation and that its business is in the planning and evaluation stage. It said it may drop the plan if it lacks economic viability.

Survey finds nearly 90 percent say AI developers should be liable in self-driving car crashes

A survey on liability for crashes involving self-driving vehicles found a strong view that AI developers should be held responsible. About 90 percent of respondents said the developers of the AI that moves the vehicle should bear responsibility, according to EV outlet Electrek. About 3,000 people took part. The least-supported option was personal liability for the person in the driver’s seat, while many also argued vehicle owners should be responsible. Some said liability could be shared among makers and AI developers.

U.S. government moves to develop safety performance standards for self-driving cars

The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has begun work on federal performance standards to evaluate the safety of self-driving vehicles, citing the need for common benchmarks for real-world operation. It launched the ASCEND consortium with SAE International to speed development of data-driven measures. NHTSA says existing federal motor vehicle safety standards do not fully cover vehicles without traditional controls. The initiative also aims to curb diverging state requirements, while companies continue expanding robo-taxi and autonomous services.
