Will Ethereum reach $3,000 as institutional buying and profit-taking tug at prices

Ethereum kept a double-digit rise in September, but analysts say whether it can break $3,000 depends on clearing resistance around $2,700 to $2,800. It traded near $2,690 on Sept. 29, about 11 percent above early September, after rallying through mid-month. Arkham data showed BlackRock’s spot ether ETFs bought more than $1.5 billion worth over 20 days, while long-term holders took profits and large transfers to exchanges were seen.

The investor bought 3,000 ether in 2017 at an average of $18.8 and has sold 2,000 at an average of $3,096, recovering $6.19 million, with 1,000 ether remaining. The move comes as ether posted a record 72.7 percent return in 2026’s third quarter, while spot ETF inflows continued.
